September 4, 2018 Update

Community Justice Society - Halifax Region

We wanted to offer an update to our clients, communities, and stakeholders now that we have reached an agreement with our unionized employees.

This has been a challenging time for our team and yet, through it all, we have maintained our respect for each other, our partners, volunteers and most of all, the clients, victims and communities whom we serve.

CJS is pleased to receive additional funding from the Nova Scotia Department of Justice to be able to continue to offer meaningful ways to repair the harms caused by youth and adult crime and restore positive relationships among youth and adults in conflict with the law, victims of youth and adult crime, and our community in Halifax and area.

The details of the agreement are confidential. What I can say is that the additional funding has allowed us to offer more competitive wages and benefits for our employees in recognition of the incredibly important work they do.

Now that we have a ratified agreement with our unionized employees, we are working collaboratively as a team to transition to regular operations as soon as possible. For now, we would ask that clients or victims who need our services contact our client/victim support line at 902 424-8905 or text it at 902 219-2241.
